MUN(Model United Nations/모의 유엔)은 학생 대사들이 맡은 국가를 대표해 주어진 의제에 대해 UN 회의를 모방해 토론하는 대회입니다. 우리나라에서는 처음에 언론사나 공공기관이 주로 주최했으나 최근 학생들이 자율적으로 사무국을 세워 대회를 기획하고 진행하는 경우가 많습니다. 현재 세계 각국에서 모의 유엔 활동이 진행되고 있습니다. 모의 유엔에는 실질적인 조사, 연설, 토론, 작문 실력과 비판적 사고 능력, 협동 능력, 그리고 리더십이 반영됩니다. 

 

   모의 유엔은 그동안 끊임없이 변형됐습니다. 그 결과 UN 회의 형태로 진행하거나 현재 이슈가 되는 문제점들을 다룰 뿐 아니라, 각국의 주요 회의를 진행하거나 그 내용이 역사적인 사건을 중심으로 이루어지는 등 콘텐츠와 형태가 다양해졌습니다.

 Model United Nations (MUN) is a contest where student delegates simulate the UN activities by debating on global issues, representing individually distributed countries. At the initial stage at South Korea, MUN was often organized by press companies or public institutions. Nowadays, however, students autonomously establish the MUN secretariats to plan out and supervise the whole competition. Currently students around the world are participating in MUN activities. MUN reflects substantial researching, public speaking, debating, and writing abilities along with critical thinking, cooperation, and leadership. 

 

 MUN has been modified through out the years. As the result, students not only simulate UN conferences, but also national conferences of their own countries and they also debate not only on current global issues but also on historical events that require more than one countries' perspective on the incident. Thus, through many modifications, MUN now has various forms of conferences and topics.
